STONE ITALIANA FOR AN ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION
Since 1979, Stone Italiana has been dedicated to excellence in terms of design, quality and sensitivity towards issues such as environment, workers’ safety and health. During 2010 Stone Italiana will finalize the implementation of an integrated management system for QUALITY, ENVIRONMENT and OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY complying with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OSHAS 18001:2007, which will be the result of a number of responsibility actions already taken by the Company.
ECO – RESPONSIBILITY
Its manufacturing process and continuous research efforts have allowed Stone Italiana to recycle and give value to industrial solid waste such as glass, mirror and granite. Now, more than ever, the Company is experimenting with combinations featuring different materials, with the final aim of recycling them. Furthermore, the amount of polymeric binder contained in the product is only 7 to 8 % and part of it comes from renewable vegetable sources obtained from non-Genetically Modified and Identity-Preserved plants.
BIO – RESPONSIBILITY
Stone Italiana products are safe for man and environment as they do not release VOCs (harmful Volatile Organic Compounds). Thus, Stone Italiana is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children & Schools (USA) certified. Stone Italiana products are naturally BACTERIOSTATIC and “food contact proof”. They are suitable for household use (kitchen countertops) and food preparation areas. Stone Italiana products are FDA (USA Food amp; Drugs Administration) approved to meet the NSF 51 standard.
SUSTAINABLE RESPONSIBILITY
Stone Italiana manufacturing processes protect the environmental balance and comply with the most strict environmental and work regulations. Stone Italiana has been continuously committed to minimising the use of harmful substances in the manufacturing process, as well as to controlling VOC emissions, reducing waste, using recyclable packaging, reducing energy and water consumption and recycling process water.Stone Italiana can contribute towards the achievement of the LEED certification of sustainability, being a member of the GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL of ITALY.
- The metallico product line contains 12% recycled metallic component as well as 16% of silica sand made from pulverized glass.
- The Brillante and Luce product lines each contain 17% of recycled crushed mirror chips in addition to 53% of silica sand from pulverized glass.
- The Perla product line contain 12% mother of pearl.
- The Glass product line contains 8% of crushed colored glass.
- The Quartz product (Terraghiaccio & Pitti) contain recycled crushed granite from waste of quarries.
- The StoneRoc product contains recycled crushed granite from waste of quarries.
