MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET (U.S.)
Product Name: Eurostone

Overview
Eurostone is dedicated to sourcing stone materials that are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and non-hazardous to its users and handlers. Quartz surfaces are not hazardous when transported, shipped, or used by the end consumer. They are completely safe for domestic and commercial use. However, fabrication processes can create silica dust if safety guidelines are not followed. OVER EXPOSURE TO CRYSTALLINE SILICA DUST CAN CAUSE SILICOSIS, LUNG CANCER, COPD, KIDNEY DISEASE, AND OTHER HEALTH ISSUES. For the safety of handlers and fabricators, Eurostone has committed to the production of stone that contains 35% or less of crystalline silica as opposed to 80-90% in traditional Quartz products. This is in line with natural stones such as granite and helps fabrication shops minimize dust exposure to their employees. To this effect, we have shifted our production to stone that contains 100% recycled, organic materials, with a crystalline silica content of 0-35%. The Ecostone product is GREENGAURD GOLD Certified and NSF Food-Safe.

Following are recommended safety guidelines for fabricators:
1. All cutting and polishing of stone must be done with water incorporating tools to minimize production of dust.

2. Adequate ventilation that provides 6 exchanges of air per hour.

3. Monitoring of crystalline silica in the air. No employee should be exposed to more than 50ug/m3 in 8 hours (permissible exposure).

4. Wearing of half face masks during fabrication and polishing, in shops or at jobsites. Personal protective equipment is recommended, and should be washed regularly.

5. Clean the wet sludge before drying and dispose per government requirements.

6. Educating employees to the dangers of dust related disease.

As of 2024, all of our production will contain 0%-35% Crystalline silica.

1. Product Agglomerate with low and some high silica minerals
Product Use: Countertop, wall cladding, Flooring, furnishing accessories.

2. Hazards Identification

Quartz products are not hazardous as shipped or as finished, fabricated end product. Product is odorless, non-flammable and poses no immediate health hazard. Preventive care and protection is needed to prevent excessive exposure to airborne particulates  by cutting, fabrication and installation.

Emergency Overview:
Appearance/Odor: Multi-colored engineered stone with no odor.
Potential Health Effects:
Acute Eye: Product in finished form does not present a health hazard via this route of entry. Dusts and flying particles generated during cutting, grinding and forming may cause irritation and injury (abrasion). Wear protective glasses.
Acute Skin: Dusts generated from this product may cause skin irritation. Wear protective clothing and gloves.
Acute Inhalation: Dusts from product may cause irritation to respiratory tract, nose, throat and lungs. Causes damage to lungs through prolonged and repeated exposure (inhalation), may cause Silicosis or lung cancer.
Acute ingestion: Not considered a potential health hazard via this route of entry. This product may cause gastrointestinal irritation if dusts are swallowed.
Chronic Exposure: The adverse health effects from crystalline silica exposure – silicosis, cancer, scleroderma, are chronic effects. The finished product does not carry any health risks. However the fabrication process can generate Crystalline Silica . This element, in case of prolonged exposure can cause irreversible lung damage such as Silicosis. During cutting, honing and polishing, adequate safety measures must be taken. (see installation guidelines)

Aggravation of Pre-existing Conditions: Not Determined.

3. Hazardous Chemical Component
Crystalline silica     GHS hazard Category 3 (Respiratory Tract irritant) H335
Other natural stone, Resins and trace minerals

4. First Aid Measures
Eye Exposure: Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for a minimum of 15 minutes.
Seek immediate medical attention if adverse effect occurs.
Skin Exposure: Wash skin with soap and water. Remove exposed or contaminated clothing, taking care not to contaminate eyes. Seek medical attention if adverse effect occurs.
Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If necessary, use artificial respiration. Consult a doctor if irritation persists.
Ingestion: If the material is swallowed, seek medical attention or advice.

5. Fire Fighting Measures Autoignition: At temperatures >490°C, this product will auto ignite.
Flash Point: 490°C
Extinguishing Media: Use appropriate extinguishing media for surrounding fire.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: When heated to decomposition, may release various hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and water. Fumes of metal oxides and mica particles could also be released.

6. Accidental Release Measures
This material is certified greenguard and greenguard gold, therefore it is compliant to all regulations for quality of indoor air for VOC. The material does not allow the migration of harmful substances from slab to surface to food.

Cleanup and Disposal of Spill: Solid slabs can simply be gathered as necessary. If large amounts of dust or wastes are created by cutting process, vacuum or sweep up material avoiding dust generation or dampen spilled material with water to avoid airborne dust. Wear sufficient respiratory protection and protective clothing where necessary. If large quantities of this material enter the waterways contact the Environmental Protection Authority, or local Waste Management Authority. Dispose of waste in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

7. Handling and Storage
Handling/Storage:
The fabricator is totally responsible for evaluating the risks in handling of this product.. Avoid breathing dust. Wash hands before eating, drinking, smoking, or using toilet facilities. Wash thoroughly after work using soap and water.

Slabs should be stored face to face in a protected environment and not exposed to sun rays.

8. Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Exposure Guidelines: Crystalline Silica 0.025 mg/m3 TWA
The fabricator is totally responsible for evaluating risks associated with staffs exposure to dusts. Educate employees to the dangers of dust and related diseases. All cutting and polishing must be done with water incorporating tools to minimize production of dust. Crystalline silica must be monitored in the air. No employee should be exposed to more then 25ug/m3 in 8 hours (permissible exposure).

Engineering Controls: Ventilation must be adequate to maintain the ambient workplace atmosphere below the exposure limit(s) outlined in the MSDS. There should be six exchanges of air per hour.

Respiratory Protection: If respiratory protection is needed, use only protection authorized in the U.S. Federal OSHA Standard, or applicable U.S. State regulations. Wearing of half face mask (with anti dust filter) during fabrication and polishing in shops or jobsites is recommended.
Eye / Face Protection: During cutting, grinding or sanding operations safety glasses with side shields or goggles should be worn.
Skin Protection: During cutting, grinding or sanding operations use body protection appropriate for task including work gloves if handling sharp or rough edges and steel-toed shoes if lifting product.
